So I’m heading to University on Saturday. In 3 days?! It’s crazy and I’m super nervous but I’m also pretty excited! I’m doing a Publishing degree – I can’t wait to finally be doing a course that is exactly what I want to base my career on. I’m not expecting to have much time over the next couple of months to read leisurely. I assume I’ll have some required reading, which combined with settling in, adjusting to new life and studying, unfortunately doesn’t leave much time at all to read. However I’m still hoping to read something, so here are the books I predict I’ll want to read and be taking with me!
Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare
(And quite possibly Clockwork Prince if I don’t finish that before I leave) I’ve owned this series for years now and I’m finally getting round to it! The first book was amazing, as are all of Clare’s books, so I’m excited to continue and finish the series.
Heir of Fire by Sarah J. Maas
The third book in the Throne of Glass series. I read the first 2 novels and the prequel novel at the beginning of the year but was put off continuing for a while because of the length and other people’s opinions. I definitely want to continue but who knows what to expect!
The Scarecrow Queen by Melinda Salisbury
Another last novel of a trilogy that I’m really eager to complete. I adored the second book, The Sleeping Prince, so, once I’ve reminded myself of all the amazing things that happened in that book, I’ll be swiftly moving on to this one!
The Diabolic by S. J. Kincaid
I’m really interested in reading some more sci-fi after reading Nemesis recently (read my review here). I really enjoyed it and get similar vibes from this book, and I’ve hear so many great things about this book!
Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
I mostly just really want to get to this book because the movie trailer was released recently and I refuse to read a book once I’ve seen the film (it’s never as good) so I need to read it asap! And the book is so popular, maybe I can bond with people over it!
History is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera
I’ll need something to break up all the dark, action-packed fantasy/sci-fi books and HIAYLM seems perfect! I’m expecting the story to break my heart, so though it might not be the happiest story ever, it’s quite short and it’ll be nice to read something set in our world!
The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas
Another book I expect to leave me in tears. The message of this book is so important and I’ve great things so I can’t wait to get to it! I also wanted some more standalones on this list, to break up the series and trilogies!
Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur
And finally on my list is some poetry! I think this will be great if I don’t have much time to read but want a little something when I take a break. Pretty sure everyone and their mom has heard of this book by now! I’m thrilled to finally get my hands on it.
Love Her Wild by Atticus
Another well-known poetry collection written by @atticuspoetry on Instagram. He always seems to pop up on my timeline. The poems I’ve seen so far I love, so I absolutely had to get his book to read the rest!
Luckily my university is only about an hour from my home so if this is a disaster and I want to read some completely different books, then I’m sure I could quickly and easily swap them out! I tried to keep the books to a minimum as who knows how much shelf space I’ll actually have in my room!? Plus I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to actually resist buying books, even if I’m a poor student. Food or books? It’s a tough one.
