Biannual Favourites Summer 2016

Of the 19 books I’ve read so far this year, I’ve definitely met some of my favourite books ever! Though it isn’t an overly large total, I thought I would share the few that earned 5 star ratings and will stay with me for a long time…

i'll give you the sun

I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson
One of my favourite books of all time. Heart-wrenchingly beautiful with the perfect characters and the most intricately-woven storyline that will leave you in tears.

The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
Another of my absolute favourites. This book is so special because you follow two boys’ entire lives, and you can’t stop yourself from becoming fully-invested and rooting for them through everything they go through (and there’s a lot).

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe
Yet another contemporary novel that stole my heart. Aristotle and Dante are some of the sweetest yet most realistic characters I’ve ever read about. They are so easy to love and root for.

destined

Destined by Aprilynne Pike
The final novel in the Wings series, Destined is the most exciting and action-packed. I was gripped from literally the first page and think it was a great wrap up of the series.

city of bones

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
City of Bones was a re-read this year, but it has been one of my favourites since I first read it a few years ago. I love the Shadowhunter world and the exiting characters that Cassandra Clare has created.

sleepingprince

The Sleeping Prince by Melinda Salisbury
Another action-packed book that you can’t stop reading. Mix the mysterious characters and unique world and you get an incredible sequel – I even preferred it to the first book in the series.
